Seabastion is an emerging multidisciplinary artist working across performance, film, sound, painting, drawing, installation, theatrical and literary traditions.
“When constructing images, I am interested in the relationships between figure and ground in both a metaphysical and structural sense. My work investigates the ways in which the body maps, and is conversely “mapped”, by both the physical and cultural landscape in which it resides. I source images from the everyday and popular culture which I then rework and process to freeze a moment and expose various levels and layers of patterning across the micro and macrocosms of contemporary existence. Thus I attempt to interact with and invest a more complex narrative into the two dimensional materiality of the painted plane.”
