ARTIST STATEMENT
“Intensive revisionism”
"An exploration of intra-personal and relationship dynamics through the use of organic and industrial design, and their various forms as metaphor. The primary motifs are musical instruments and flowers that reflect a specific symbolic intention.

The compositions relate to the ways in which people connect, or more often, fail to connect. The symbolic genders of the instruments or flowers are generally non-specific and interchangeable as the power structure, intention or focus of the relationship changes.

Stylistically, the paintings focus on fluid brushwork, a kind of distant un-realism, and sometimes, the blurring of the line between the strictly representational and the purely abstract.

In this context, revisionism refers a coming to terms with the past, and redeveloping a belief in the future. This tension and release is the subject and destination of both the work, and hopefully, myself."
