ARTIST STATEMENT
"I have always been interested in the exploration of the landscape in my paintings and its dynamic role in our ever changing relationships with our surroundings and each other. The village is used as a metaphor to represent our complex society. The various angles in which the village and its surroundings are depicted highlight the different perspectives in which it can be viewed.

The focus largely plays with the spatial aspect, the looming buildings of high density living, our sense of place within the various groupings that all form the community.

I work with a palette of natural pigments that is subtle in tone and slightly ethereal. I hope to achieve a sense of the metaphysical, an unidentifiable place, outside our own time, which at the same time resonates with our present."
