ARTIST STATEMENT
"This anatomy series
continues the human body themes explored in my last series about plastic
surgery and artificial body parts. The human body is inspirational, having
been the blueprint for many inventors, artists, engineers, architects
and scientists. Every aspect of the human body has been perfectly engineered
to comprise the ideal organism. Not a single cell is wasted; each and
every one has a specific purpose.
The body's amazing muscular system has inspired me to create paintings
which
capture the overlapping and interlacing muscle tissue generating the intricate
muscular
landscapes. These paintings are juxtaposed with others of body diagrams
that depict
the complex systems, including the digestive, nervous, skeletal, urinary,
reproductive, respiratory, circulatory and muscular systems...all perfectly
evolved, layered over each other, working together to create nature's
masterpiece."
